Fix & improve existing apps

I fix bugs, turn user feedback into features and clean up the code in ASP.NET Core applications that are already live.

.NET modernization

I move .NET Framework, Web Forms and older .NET Standard code to modern .NET, one project at a time, so the app never has to go offline for a big-bang rewrite.

APIs, data & performance

I build clean, layered APIs with EF Core or Dapper and tune slow queries. I also move long-running work into background queues so the app stays responsive.

Cloud & delivery

I design serverless and queue-based systems on AWS, write infrastructure as code with CloudFormation, SAM or Terraform, and set up CI/CD pipelines.

Senior Software Development Engineer

Crum & Forster · CFConnect platform · New Jersey
  • Senior engineer on CFConnect, a web platform that insurance customers and brokers use to view policies, claims and reports.
  • Led the migration from .NET Framework/Standard to .NET Core, moving one project at a time over about 8 months. The platform now runs on .NET 10.
  • Moved report generation from synchronous requests to an asynchronous design with SQS and worker Lambdas, which removed timeouts on large reports.
  • Fixed production race conditions in status workflows by adding a targeted retry mechanism, and built account-level access restrictions for specific business lines.
  • Led AI and automation work and managed an offshore support team, getting them to the point where they could handle production support on their own.
2017 – 2023

Senior .NET Developer (Contractor)

Crum & Forster · New Jersey
  • Took the Third-Party Deductible process off the mainframe by building a .NET sync service and SSIS jobs to replace it.
  • Worked with the claims migration team on data conversion and mapping across Oracle and Snowflake.
  • Migrated older ASP.NET Web Forms applications to .NET Core.
  • Built and maintained PDF reports with jsreport, including moving the templates to a new rendering engine.
